Setting up the app

If you don’t see any products on the dashboard, or are seeing an error message, please refer to this help guide to figure out how to fix common issues with your inventory.

The AutoSync app helps you to keep your products’ inventory quantities in sync between Shopify and Square. On the All tab, you can see all your products that have an SKU on Shopify or Square. The app matches your products across the two platforms using their SKUs. 

The Out-of-sync tab shows all your products that currently have a different inventory quantity on Shopify and Square (for example, the item with SKU SAMPLE_SKU might have 2 units in stock on Shopify, and 3 units in stock on Square).

When first installing the app, you start out on the free plan. On this plan, you can use the buttons on the Out of sync tab to manually resolve inventory discrepancies between Shopify and Square. Click the “Copy to Square” button to transfer the inventory quantity of a product from Shopify to Square. Click the “Copy to Shopify” button to transfer the stock quantity from Square to Shopify.

If you’d like the app to automatically take care of updating each platform when you make a sale or add new incoming stock, you can turn on the auto-sync feature by clicking the Enable auto-sync button in the top right corner of the app’s dashboard. To be able to activate the auto-sync, you first need to resolve all current inventory differences between Shopify and Square using the buttons on the Out of sync tab so that the auto-sync is able to start off with a common baseline.

The In Sync tab shows all products that have a matching SKU between Shopify and Square, and also currently the same inventory quantity on both platforms (e.g. the item with SKU SAMPLE_SKU might have 3 units in stock on Shopify, and 3 units in stock on Square).

The Only in Shopify tab shows products that are currently only available on Shopify. For example, you might not have created that product yet on Square, or it might already be on Square but with a different SKU. Similarly, the Only in Square tab shows products that are currently only available on Square.
